This was one of my mom’s choices and I was highly resistant to it. I had the feeling that DP, another all-male drama with violence as a motif that my mom really wanted to watch, was a fluke. Whether I was right or wrong to drag my feet over watching this drama is difficult to day.
There was a lot of hype around this drama from what I saw online, especially with the season 2 promotions. Unfortunately, when I watched it, I did not see what everyone else was barking about. I suffer from super intense BL brain worms but Weak Hero did absolutely nothing for me. Sorry, the shipping appeal is minimal here.
Where Weak Hero shines is in the hilariously cartoonish violence. Surely the characters should have died like multiple times every episode. It shouldn’t be so entertaining when every fight follows the same pattern. Park Jihoon spends enough time looking constipated that you think he’s going to do something incredible and he gets beaten within an inch of his life. Incredible.
After a while it becomes a slog of a watch, especially when you’re not a fan of impenetrable suffering and injustice. That being said, even watching both seasons back to back isn’t massively long.
