I’m going to be honest, I did initially think that this was a drama about nothing. It was about a lot, eventually.
Kim Yoojung is a great actress but I doubly love her because she will take a role where in-universe her character is the most beautiful person in the whole world. All of her roles should be like that.
In this drama where Kim Yoojung is the most beautiful person in the world, she is also a sociopath and does whatever she can to survive her super horrible life. As much as she suffers, she also makes it look like she constantly fails upwards and that was so fascinating to watch.
Visually this drama was lovely. It definitely had a style it was going for and it was executed pretty nicely.
If I had to pinpoint a gripe with Dear X it would be that there isn’t much relief from the frustration seeing constant injustices cause. The ending nearly took me out too! But it wasn’t too bad. It was a shame that some of the characters were wasted but it was a gripping drama to the end.
